The Mind of Christ

Seeking Godly wisdom over human logic

We live in a world today where the vast majority of the population values and trusts the scientific community and the world of academia. Today, much of what we consider to be fact or truth has been determined by what can be reasonably explained, tested and observed by the human senses. While God has certainly gifted us with our own minds and given us the ability to acquire great knowledge, we as believers know that there’s more to life than the material world where we reside. There is also a spiritual realm where much goes unseen or unheard by human eyes and ears. It's in this hidden spiritual world where God primarily operates and reveals His mysteries to us--His Godly wisdom that can't be acquired through mere human knowledge. As children of God, we can actually know God’s thoughts and plans for us and we're taught to seek God's counsel over our own limited human understanding.

But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
I Corinthians 2:9-10

As unbelievable as it sounds, as born again Christians, we have special access to the mind of Christ through the Holy Spirit living within us. It is the Holy Spirit that discerns the thoughts of God as the very Spirit of God Himself. The Spirit acts as our great Teacher who reveals God’s infinite wisdom and truth that exceeds the human imagination and often defies human logic. In fact, we need the help of the Holy Spirit to fully believe in spiritual truth that is only found in Jesus.

God desires open communication with His children and He wants to reveal the wonderful plans and purposes He has prepared for our lives. However, so often we are quick to seek human wisdom without first seeking Godly counsel in our life circumstances. Human wisdom simply can’t compare to the wisdom of the all-knowing and never changing God. We do well for ourselves to seek His guidance over our own rational thinking. Since the Holy Spirit knows and reveals the mind of God to us, it is vital for our spiritual walk to hear what He wants to say to us and let Him move freely and actively in our daily lives. He will give us Godly discernment that helps us realize, understand and appreciate the gifts of divine favour and blessing that God wishes to bestow upon us.

Want to gain the mind of Christ? Just like King Solomon did, all we need to do is ask! God is greatly pleased when we seek His wisdom and He will freely give it to us if we simply ask Him with an open and willing heart. Thank God today for your blessed assurance and know that He is revealing the amazing and wonderful plans He has for you through His Holy Spirit—things that your eyes have not seen, your ears have not heard and your heart has not even imagined.
